Qualified Professional Status
What is it and why does it matter?
Anyone can call themselves a professional photographer, with no qualifications and little experience. It was something that always bothered me, so I wanted to make sure that that my images were of a professional standard.
To achieve Professional Qualified status with the Guild of Photographers, I submitted a panel of 21 images (as shown here) to be judged by leaders in the photography industry against international judging standards.
To prepare for the submission, I had several mentoring sessions (which were not for the faint hearted)! Tiny flaws, almost invisible to the naked eye, were magnified and seized upon but there’s been no better way for me to improve my photography than getting feedback from an experienced judge.
Now I have achieved Professional Qualified status, my images have been officially recognised as being of a professional standard, which is reassuring for both myself and my clients. 🐾
